OUR STORY
Ukee Sound started with a vision and a dream.
My wife, Denise Halfyard and myself, have always loved the ocean and wanted a simpler and quieter life where we could connect with the land. One fateful visit to Ucluelet in 2018 opened our souls to the healing and beauty of this incredible place.
We purchased a little piece of the rainforest and designed and built our dream home and recording studio!
As I'm a lifelong songwriter and musician, and Denise and I are both professional voice actors, we needed a recording studio to work, and I figured, "why not open a studio for local songwriters, musicians and bands?"
We're so happy we did and continue to welcome new and returning artists to Ukee Sound.

MEET THE TEAM
Partner, HR, Promotions, Graphic Design Hadih! I'm Denise Halfyard. I am a proud Wet'suwet'en, Tsimshian, Gitxsan entrepreneur from the Laksilyu clan, which means Small Frog in Wet'suwet'en. Along with my partnership in Ukee Sound, my love of music lead me to create The Frog Radio, an online station devoted to Indigenous music of all genres from across Turtle Island, 24/7. In addition I am the event coordinator for the Tears to Hope Society, a non-profit organization that supports the families of our Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls (MMIWG). I feel it's so important that we share our Indigenous culture and raise awareness of social issues with those around us, as it teaches those willing to listen and learn.
Partner, Producer, Songwriter, Musician, Engineer, Voice Coach. I started playing bass at 13, soon learning to sing and harmonize, then learned guitar, keyboards and percussion. I've toured the country, played 100's if not 1000's of shows and festivals, recorded at the famous Mushroom Studios and Ocean Sound. I've taken all that experience to become an accomplished producer and engineer. I have worked and produced artists in pop, electronic, metal, latin, blues, jazz, alternative, country, rock, reggae and classical music. I currently collaborate with many talented singer/songwriters. You can catch me performing live in Ukee or Tofino as a solo acoustic performer or hosting Making Waves LIVE at Ukee Poke. I'm also an artist, author, Hatha yoga enthusiast, surfer, a professional voice coach and voice actor.
